2015-2016 Reflections Theme:    Let Your Imagination Fly

We’re looking for Vandeventer’s student artists, writers, photographers, dancers, musicians and film directors to REPRESENT! It’s time for the 2015-16 PTA Reflections contest with the theme “Let Your Imagination Fly.” Last year, a VMS eighth-grader made it all the way to national competition in Washington, D.C. with her artwork, so we’re hopeful to have more Vandeventer students try for that honor.

The six categories for entries are: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts. The deadline for VMS entries is Friday, Oct. 30. Students may submit as many entries as they like in multiple categories They can take their entries to the front office any day of the week of Oct. 30, but they cannot be turned in earlier because of storage issues. Students or parents with questions can reach our Reflections/Arts in Education Chair Heidi Stone at heidibstone@yahoo.com.

      * Please note the new PTA policy (not specific to our campus): It’s now required that any entry will be accepted as long as someone in the household is a PTA member. If an entry is submitted, but no one in the household is a member of PTA, the entry will not be judged.

Forms, Rules and Resources are available. Please view the current participation rules on the Texas PTA website as a guide.

Started in 1969 by the Colorado PTA President Mary Lou Anderson, Reflections has encouraged millions of students to express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Students in preschool through grade 12 may create and submit works of art in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts.
